Tambo the tapir

Tambo

Tambo was confiscated from Los Tambos, a village in the Cayo District in 2010. His mother was shot and killed, and Tambo was being kept illegally as a pet. At The Belize Zoo, Tambo grew to become an educator and ambassador for his species. Tambo has his very own storybook, “Tambo the Tapir Tells his Tale,” written by the founder of The Belize Zoo, Sharon Matola.
