How can I get to the Belize Zoo?
The Belize Zoo is readily accessible by road from Belize City which is the main point of entry for foreigners to the country. The Zoo is located at Mile 29 along the Western highway.

It is approximately an hour’s drive from the main cruise-ship terminal at the tourism village and about an hour driving from the international airport following through Belize City and onto the western highway.

What are the opening hours for the Belize Zoo?
The Belize zoo opens its gate daily to visitors from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

What are the entry fees for the Belize Zoo?
Normal Daily Fees are US $ 8.00 for adults and $4.00 for children (non-Belizean).

What is the approximate length of the tour within the zoo?
The approximate time for a complete zoo tour is about two hours; however the time allotted for any tour group or independent visitor is dependent on the visitor or the time limitations set by the tour moderator or personal interest.

What visitor facilities and services are present at the Belize Zoo and Tropical Education Center?
The Belize Zoo has a large parking lot, picnic tables and a small playground, Male and female outhouses with flushable toilets and a wash basin. Bathroom facilities can be easily found following posted signs or by asking any zoo personnel,a gift shop where visitors can shop for the local craft and zoo souvenirs, snacks and refreshments,onsite guides are also available upon request (at least 24 hours),Overnight accommodation can also be arranged through the Topical Education Centre. What to bring at the Belize Zoo?
A comfortable shoes as the entire zoo tour is done on foot through graveled pathways. Insect repellent also comes in handy as biting insects may be present especially in the early morning or on the evening. Visitors are also advised to have water as the temperature within the zoo may be high during summer.

What rules and policies must a visitor be aware of while visiting the Belize Zoo?
Rules, policies and general advisory for school groups, tour groups and independent visitors to the Belize Zoo. Groups of Children visiting the zoo should be accompanied by a teacher or parent. Teachers, parents and tour guides are expected to be responsible for their groups at all times. Visitors are advised to please walk within the zoo as running is not allowed. All food items must be eaten in the parking lot and picnic area of the zoo since no food is allowed within the zoo. The zoo recommends parents and guides to encourage children to play within the small play ground adjacent to the picnic area. Boisterous play is not allowed within the zoo. Visitors are asked to stay on the gravel path when touring the zoo to ensure the safety of visitors and animals in the zoo. Visitors to the zoo are encouraged to use the rest-room facilities before entering the zoo at the parking lot since none is locates with the confines of the zoo. Music and loud chatter is not allowed within the zoo or close to the animal enclosures. Visitors asked not to tease, molest or feed any of the animals. Any adult or children seen throwing stones or gravel, trying to feed the animals and/or teasing the animals will be escorted outside the zoo grounds. Visitors are asked to properly dispose of garbage in the designated bins provided by the zoo. Teachers, parents or tour guides are asked to record their group information at the register.

What other activities can be arrange and conducted through the Belize Zoo and Tropical Education Centre?
Visitor may choose to arrange a guided night tour of the Belize Zoo. Visitors may choose to organized nature walks and bird watching tours on high bird watching platforms, as well as caving and Kayaking in the Sibun River.

What animal will I see at the zoo?
All animal present in the Belize zoo are endemic to the region. They have not been captured from the wild but rather donated by other zoos, removed from the illegal pet trade, harmed by accident or intentionally or have been breed in captivity.
