An Awesome Conservation Camp

The recent rainy weather did not dampen the spirit of the 17^th Conservation Camp hosted at the zoo. Education officers, Celso Poot and Jamal Andrewin saw that the campers had a worthwhile and memorable experience.

Super Cool Vet School

Apart from providing a happy home for the wildlife that comes our way, other important facets of zoology are also addressed at The Belize Zoo. For a week, a hands–on training course was held at the Zoo in collaboration with the Ross Veterinary School.

Stunning New "Protect The Predators" Billboards

One of the results of our successful environmental education programs at the Zoo has been the erection of two large highway billboards, on the most traveled roads in Belize. The message thousands of people view when they drive, or cycle past, is that the protection of our top predators is vital.

TBZ Creature Feature: Juvenile Ornate Hawk–Eagle

What a beauty! And what a lucky beauty this juvenile so–rare–to–see–in Belize, Ornate Hawk Eagle is. During the recent rainy weather, the young raptor was found wet and shivering, sitting in the middle of a road on Yalbac Ranch.

A Roaring Victory For Jaguars!

The Belize Zoo is located smack in the middle of the Central Biological Corridor. This is a vital tract of continuous forested landscape, providing habitat connectivity from the north to the south, for many species of wildlife.
